61 4x4 stepside

Hello the 223 6 has lost oil pressure. Am debating on a 302. Question I have is the bellhousing. It has a 4 spd manual transmission so bellhousing, starter, if any concerns. Turns out it is a old Colorado state vehicle. Thoughts, Thanks

Will require different bellhousing, etc. The 223/262 is a unique mount pattern.

ok so it looks like it might be more economical to leave the 223 in place? Once I get the frame mounts to swap engine, then I need to get some kind of mount for the tranny. Haven't looked underneath to see if there are mounting hole for different rear mount? Was kind of looking forward to a lopey cammed 302. Oh well decisions decisions haha
While I am on here does anyone make replacement steps? I have a couple catalogs and neither have steps.
Thanks for all ya'lls input sure beats trial and error ha

Are either of those catalogs from Dennis Carpenter? If not google that name and look on his web page. Other retailers sell them online also. Check the Iceman store on Slick 60s web page he may have a few cut out of trucks that he will sell. Toms Flashback F100s on line may be able to sell you some good used ones. I will be replacing my door steps on my 65 in a few years and got some good used ones from the Iceman. I have read that you should have good welding skills and body work skill to make the aftermarket door steps fit properly. Thats why Im going with good used steps. Good luck. Welcome to FTE and post up some pics of your truck project.

Sorry guys I am talking about the step for the bed. I found another truck and hope to catch up with the guy and get it for parts. I was in south Ga at my brothers and found a 64 I think stepside with the 292 in it. He wanted 2500 for it if anyone is interested I can get his number for anyone. Just more than I wanted to spend for a parts truck

Be careful, there are FOUR different lengths of 1957/66 Flareside bed steps. Measure your trucks steps before buying any.

17" or 25" or 30 5/8" or 37 1/2." Short or long beds, 2WD or 4WD, F350's 9' bed are the differences.
