bell housing ?????????
hello I have a 223 straight 6 in my ford I would like to put a 302 in it but i want to keep the 3 speed tranny in the tree will a 302 work with it and will the bell housing stay the same or will a 302 bell housing fit a 3 speed tranny please help ??????

Welcome to FTE! Unfortunately, the bellhousing bolt pattern on the block is completely different between the 223 and the 302. A 302 bellhousing won't bolt up to your transmission, either. You can make this work, though. What you need is an adapter plate that adapts the 302 bellhousing to the original transmission. Google "transmission adapter plate" and you should find more information. One company that makes them right off the top of my head is TransDapt.
