Welcome to FTE! Most use a GM or Ford column. I used a mid-70s GM column out of a Malibu on my 49. Length is perfect. DO NOT try to use a Mopar column...too many problems. Been there and done that!
If you have the bucks an aftermmarket Flaming River column for your specific application would be best...
If you don't use a aftermarket column, use a GM post '69 cause most aftermarket steering wheels will fit easier. I've heard the ones from an old GM van work well because they're a cleaner look. No mounting brackets etc.since most of the column is visable in the original interior.
I am a FORD enthusiast, through and through, no GM or Mopar parts. someone had suggested a column from an Aerostar or Winstar.
using a 460 30 over with 10 to one compression, c6, mustang ifs, explorer rear, 8.8 posi.
the $$ not there for an aftermarket right now
