Too bad you're not close enough to get that louvered tailgate I used for a bit while I replaced my damaged one
no tailgate drop - just drive right on in !

or, would this work for you,
how about the old school method of putting blocks under your front jacks to give you more height ...

I dont want to start a war in my thread, but I wil say this, the Goose Box is heavier than the pin box that was on the trailer, its made of thicker plate. If I knew it wouldnt void the warranty then I would have made my own adapter as well, but with a new trailer I wanted to keep the warranty on the frame.

Also the Reese Goose Box is a real nice unit with a lot of technolgy built in.

As for the gates, I will just remove mine because the bed wont be secure with a 5th wheel gate anyway so if I remove it there is nothing to steal.

I am a bit confused .....
I lower the tailgate fully.
Backup and connect to the king pin. (yes, 5th wheel)
latch & lock
Raise tailgate. (the tailgate isn't very far from contacting the front of the trailer, but it doesn't.

Soooo With the gooseneck configuration..... you can't fully lower the tailgate and backup to the point that the goosebox is over the ball without the tailgate hitting the trailer ?????

I think sarge inferred with the wife driving and him lining it up....

he wanted to know when she increased his accidental death and dismemberment insurance

depends on your hitch box, but with the extended trail air I have lots of room between tailgate and 5er when down...

Sailor,

I dont think I can lower the gate with the 5er hooked up. I didnt try it, but when we were hooking it up at the dealer the guy looked nervous like it was going to hit. I can definatly try it on my own, but I iwll make sure smeone is there to watch.

And yes, my wife would definately pinch me between the truck and trailer no doubt in my mind.

............And you pissed her off with the following:

My wife was standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror.

She was not happy with what she saw and said to me,

"I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you
to pay me a compliment.'

I replied, "Your eyesight's damn near perfect."

And then the fight started........
