Hey Guys and Gals,
My IL 6 Holly carb stumbles and the engine stalls upon accelerating. I can prevent this by feathering the gas pedal. Time for rebuild, it's had one a couple of years back or is it an adjustment?

Just to clarify, is this a 223 - 6 cylinder with a 1904 Holley Carb, single barrel?

Have you checked the fuel line / pump operation?

 

I've ruled out the fuel pump and gas line - it idles smoothly.
Upon doing more reading, I think the better description is "hesitation" bordering on "stall" only when the accelerator is pressed firmly.

 

Accelerator pump issues possibly ?

 

I'm still fighting the same issue in mine - professional mechanic buddy of mine has helped me play with it... while there are several things that can get involved, timing, mixture adjustment, etc the most likely almost guaranteed culprit is accelerator pump issues. Start there (mine started behaving badly after a full carb overhaul)
