Seems like the PO stripped the screw for the choke on my boys truck and put it back together with pop rivets and a few of the other screws on the carb have stripped out heads. I was gonna rebuild the carb as I am pretty sure the accelerator pump is bad (you can smell gas in the exhaust after he has it parked for a while, and the bowl drains out if it sits a few days), but now I am thinking I might just replace the carb. Want to go with a factory one if I can find one in decent shape without breaking the bank.
Neighbor says he may have a holley 1bbl that will swap, so gonna look at that too.
not to hijack... but speaking of accelerator pumps, the diaphragm on my (2V) carb is shot. The rebuild kit, although it matches the stamped tab on the carb, has a housing and diaphragm that are just a little too big for my carb body!
