Because my truck is proven reliable....easily worked on... and looks sexier than any new truck out there! With only a handful of special tools you can do everything by yourself or with a friend in a weekends time!

The only thing that the new trucks have that we dont is some creature comforts!
Which if I had a crew cab.. im sure I could get and transfer over to my OBS..

Great answers, Rob I can identify with yours especially. I had my truck on blocks for almost two weeks soaking the manifold bolts so I would not break them. Besides my neighbors sticking their noses up the city gave me a code violation. I took the violation down to city hall and found the lady who gave it to me. I asked her if this was the way they welcomed new people to their town? I told her that I bought a house in their dieing, indebted town and this is the way they treat people. I told her that instead of them giving me a 'welcome basket' they threaten me. Real good relations and promoting the town. I then tore up the violation in front of her and said I'm not moving it until I'm good and ready. I'll go around town and take 100 pictures of other violation and if they give me a hard time I'll sue the city for harassment and discrimination. Then all she saw was my back side.

I was very fortunate to find a low mileage rig. Very few and far between. Might as well make the best of it. So why not make sure its as solid and reliable as possible. Plus a little more performance doesn't hurt on the fun side of coin. One may never have this opportunity again to preserve a piece of history.

Ever since the 7.3 went away the newer rigs are just time bombs.

But wait! I have one of those too! Tick....Tick.....Tick........

By far I like the looks of these fords better than any other ford and by FAR any other truck, the joy/heartache of working on them is just as fun!I get looks every time I go for a spin in mine, and the love or hate of the new creak or rattle to track down is always there.

I do it because that is what I've done for over thirty years. I've seen the ****ty workmanship first hand and I want it done right the first time without me paying a fortune for it. Plus the truck is paid for, insurance and tags are cheap. I've worked on the newer superduties, not only do the parts cost a hell of a lot more but it's a real pain trying to get to stuff.

Because I can and always wanted to drive and work on diesel trucks for fun.

I was actually looking at 7.3 Super Duties. I hadn't even considered buying one this old. But the price was really good and I couldn't let go of the wheel after I test drove it. Now I have OBS syndrome. Oh well.

It is the last true American truck. GM and Chrysler went south in the 90's when the good ole' boys at Ford were still making a TRUCK.

I love the lines of our OBS like a classic late 60's early 70's muscle car.

Learning to repair the 7.3 keeps us young.

I get head turning looks all the time

I didnt buy this truck to race. it has the aerodynamics of a brick. there so many other trucks that could be faster with less power. but I love the looks of it and I like that its a crewcab its great for trips up to the woods. I dont care if it gets scratched up in the trails. its my shlt hauler it aint for looks. but I like it to opperate correctly. my mods are minimal I do stuff to make it opperate better. for as many cubic inches of displacement that it has it should make way more horsepower than it does in stock form. I think its a dog in the power department. but I dont care about that. its simple to work on as far as diesels go. I wouldnt trade it for a new one. at 85,000 miles its just barely broke in. they can keep those new $60,000 superdoodys just not my style. we are a ford family so thats what we buy. my wife and a lot of friends work for FoMoCo so have to support that too. my next new ford will probably be a mustang. I miss my 04 GT.

I guess I like that these trucks have some character to em...
Or you can easily change em a bit to have some more!

Im kinda an old geezer when it comes to my taste in vehicles... New cars have no soul or style to them.

95% are run in the mill 2 or 4 door 'family' cars. And the ones that arent like BMWs and Audis and a bunch of crap you have to pay 40k to have a decent sporty car.

Im sure there are exceptions(there always are), but thats how i feel.

Civic, Carolla, Camry, Accord, prius, 200, 300. Its like buying the same pair of jeans with a different logo and wash.

Love my girl "Orca Blanca", since the kitty got ripped off she's even happier. I enjoy driving my rig, it's a bitch to park sometimes so I just park far away and enjoy the walk. OBS's are like no other truck on the road. Mine looks like an old farm truck with scratches and dents, and is rusting here and there but that keeps the shiny cars out of my way. Ultimately I know what is underneath is solid as a rock.
