well the solenoid clicks so wouldnt that mean its good?
I tried jumping it today, i dont even get a spark, but when I connected the jumper cables from my running car to my battery and jumped it with screwdrivers, bigass sparks.
Let my trucks battery charge for a good 10 minutes, came out took the jumper cables off, and once again not even a spark.
I replaced mine only to find out it was the insulation on the power cable was melted causing it to ground out -- replaced and located the cable and it and it started without issue
Good find agstr. Well, a good find AFTER you spend money on the new starter, but hey, at least you found the problem.
And got a new starter out of it for your troubles.
If your other cables are old too, might just change them out (or at least keep your eyes on them for trouble) because they're as old as the other one.
Admittedly the starter cable likely takes more of a beating, being down low in harm's way so to speak. But the upper ones get pretty crusty too.
Good luck. Hope the new part lives up to it's expectations too!
We see a lot of new stuff fail quickly unfortunately. Which is why I mention it.
Oh, and way to search back in the archives too! Did you google it with this site listed or something like that? Or were you just digging deep?
This is funny, (not your problem) I just came across a video about the starter solenoid this morning . I just got done posting it. This might help you.
