Strange new Dash indicators
Yesterday I had the 800 miles to go message for DEF show up so I stopped by
my neighborhood store and got some DEF and filled the tank. This morning I did not even glance at the dash until halfway to work at which time the DEF message was gone but the Gear indications 1 - 6 were lit up with the current gear my truck was in lit as orange. My shift lever was in the "D" position. I have never had this happen before. Changing the shift lever to "M" and the current Gear indication is lit but the other 5 went dark. Change the shift lever to "D" and they are all lit again. Any other shift lever position and the Gear indications go dark. My Gear indication numbers were never lit up before in Drive, why start now ? Any similar experiences ??

While in [D] if you press the + button you can toggle the display for the gears on or off.
Give it a try.
Since your gear numbers were off, you accidently pressed the plus button (since you didn't loose a gear).
You can lock out gears in [D] and this is how you know which gears are disabled.
