Actually Mike, take a look at this thread too - thejean did some amazing photoshopping on some pics with a bunch of different looks for the grill and surround. I can see yours with the bars painted red and the [ ] parts black.
Definitely a sweet ride. I have seen that thread. It looks great on that color truck, but the red is so.......red! The lift wheels and tires don't hurt the look of it either.

And I come across as embarrassingly needy in that thread.....
Pam, I saw that thread, and thought you would end up with the photoshop version, but you're looking good. You may be on to something with the red and black and lose the chrome all together on the grill. (the chrome lovers will have a field day with that move )
Glad I went to Tech, because this this is starting to look like a homer wagon.
How exactly did the shop paint chrome bumpers? I had the same idea and every shop around said the paint won't last and they won't warranty it. They say to properly remove the chrome the bumpers have to be heated and it will damage them. They suggested buying paintable bumpers (like on the XL) and going that route, but for $700 out-the-door I'll pass.

You can remove the chrome via sandblast or a muriatic acid solution. Also, a good bonding primer probably would most likely work as that stuff actually has a high quality adhesive in it. You can bond two pieces of metal together very well. Almost like super glue.

That's what I thought. Part guy at the Ford House gave me this guys number. He said he's been painting chrome for 15 years with no problems. So I figured I would give it a shot. He only charged me $300. So far so good, we'll see how it looks in a year.

Thanks. Lift shipping out on Tuesday, then wheels and tires. It should look real good in a week or two.
