I've wanted to put a solid chrome grille in my 48 f1.But as we know they never made one.So I've got a great grille and found a shop here in town that will chrome it for me for $150.00.It is a spray on chrome and looks great.I was just wondering if anyone had seen a chrome grille in a 48?If so what did you think and do you have any pics?I've taken 2 inside door handles to have him do to be sure I like it.From what I seen in his shop they will look great.sorry for the long posting but this is what I've been looking for.Just want some input.
THANKS

This grill was on eBay a while back. It looks sharp but I wouldn't want one on my truck. I think it would be a pain to keep clean and free of rust on a driver. I use the SS grill strips.
Personally I like chrome. I think it would look better if just the bars were chromed (similar to covering them with the stainless strips) instead of the whole thing.
For my truck I straightened it as best as I could and sprayed it with a coating of "cowboy chrome" from a rattle can
"cowboy chrome" is what I call any aluminum, silver, etc in a spray paint. Mine happened to be high temp engine paint.
If you do have your grill chromed make sure that you have it absolutely smooth and nick free like the photes that Bob posted or else every little ding will show up
I have a great grille. After the pics bob sent I will have it chromed.I love the way they look. This is a spray on chrome.I can't tell it by looking at it or touching it.He says it holds up great and is easy to care for. Thanks for the photos and input.

What kind of process is this? It doesn't sound like traditional chrome plating. I have a nice stock grill guard but it has surface rust and the chrome plating is peeling off. I am wonder how this system works.
The guy did not show me how the process works but said it is holds up great. He belived in it enough to go to the bank and set up his shop. What I've seen looks great.I'll keep you posted.I should get my door handles back this week. When I do I'll post pics.
