OOPS, where did it go?

OOPS, where did it go?
I have a problem. The inlet filter on my 11 gallon electric air compressor is missing. It must have vibrated loose and rolled away on the jobsite. The threads on the head are 1/2" pipe threads. Does anybody have an idea on how to make a replacement filter holder? I was thinking about a 1/2" galvanized close nipple with some sort of threaded fitting like a 1/2" x 1" reducer. Or, should I just bite the bullit, take the easy way out, and buy a new plastic unit? I always like the chance to create something custom and cheap. Thanks, Jag

Since you're infrom my home town, . I'll try to help out.
I also lost my filter on the job site. I asked the plumbers for some parts, and they helped me out.
I/2"x 1" nipple, a 2 1/2" reducer, a peice of washable furnance filter and a appropriate sized hose clamp.
I'm pretty sure I don't have to explain how to put them together lol, except maybe to say wrap the filter over the reducer's big end and over the sides and use the hose clamp to hold it on.
