my friend Marks ,brother took his ford truck to jiffy lube, had them replace fuel filter.Drove home ten minuets from his house.Truck caught fire and burned to the ground. So in saying all that put a extinguisher in all those dents out there, and stay away from jiffy lube
Many years ago while on a road trip I used a 'quick-lube' shop to change the oil in my wife's car. They left the drain plug loose. Luckily we had gone across the street to eat while they had the car and I noticed the puddle of oil under it walking up to it.
Sounds like someone forgot to tighten a hose clamp all the way - especially if the filter was on the pressure side, it could leak a puddle that would drip onto a hot manifold. That sucks
Gippy lube hire peeps at minimum wage, usually they haven't an ounce of automotive experience. They get very little training.
One thing they do is use a WRENCH to tighten the oil filter (instead of hand tightning it). When this occurres, usually the filter will split open within a coupla blocks after driving away from Gippy lube.
Years ago my Daughter had her Brand New Cougar oil change & Lube at Jip you Lube. They put one of those Quick Disconnects which failed before she left the parking lot. The car made it 1 mile with a beautiful stream of oil right to the site of the engine detonation. I told her to leave the car right there on the side of the road. I returned from out of town the next day and took pictures of a mile long oil trail right to the stores front door. The Franchise owner Lawyered up, I Lawyered up. My Daughter got a brand new Motor, and a handsome diminished value settlement. Oh and both Lawyers did just fine as well. The big loser was Mr. Jip you Lube Franchise Owner. I really tried to be nice about in the beginning.
