Is there a switched power soure in back half of Ex??

I need to wire my new backup camera to switched power.
I'd prefer to tap an existing source rather than pull a home run from the front.
I cannot use the reverse or running lights as it is plugging into my Insight and I want to be able to switch it on and off whenever I want.

Did a search and didn't find any pertinent answers. Any suggestions?

I was just looking at that.
It's just a pia to get to with the sideways bracket and all.
I'm amazed with all that goes on in the back half of the truck that there is nothing.
I have the whole drivers side rear interior apart. You'd think there would be something you could tap into.

Remove the rear license plate. Then you can reach in and over to the left. There is a plug in there that connects the harness for the trailer plug. Its a pia but you can unplug it and plug it back in with one hand and some patience. Once you have it unplugged, you can pull the harness out a bit to use a test lit to identify the switched wire. Then simply use a scotch lock to tap into it.

Which backup camera did you decide to use? I can't make up my mind - too many choices & issues......then i loose my patience and put the idea to rest for a while.

There is a 12v always on and 12v on with the key that runs to the rear wiper. They run down the driver side quarter panel then up to the middle of the hatch.

Thanks, I've already tapped the switched power on the trailer plug.
I will track down and remember the wiper wire!
