StageII's

It's been a week and no one has noticed my sig. I got hooked up with a local alliant shop and had my stageI's built up to 180/80 and I'm in love with my truck again. Plenty of power and it hasn't ran and idle this good in a long time.

I've never been able to wrap by brain around this. Like today I was, as always, limited by EGT's and have plenty of power left over. What good are stage II's if you can't really use them. I guess they are great for racing, pulling sleds and short runs. I've considered it for pulling but I just don't know if they would do me any good. I've got IC and water injection, I don't know what else can be done for EGT controll?

Edit: congrats on the new toy, sorry I went into a me, me, me thing!! LOL

Nice mike! See glenn, for you stage 1's are what i think you need. For me, i could probably do with stage II's but i want to go with the stage III's because i dont do much towing, and am a bigger is better typa guy (the scale shows it lol!!!)

I wont be going all out all day long, id have a moderate tune for my driving around, a few tow tunes tuned to keep it in check, and then an all out ***** to the wall lol. Id like to do some sled pulls once i build her, so egts would only be a factor from light to light against q cummins and from green flag to red

Turbo, you would need a bigger turbo to move more air and lower the egt's. The stocker has trouble with twos and creates a lot of heat, even with ones they create some good heat. Though in your case the D66 and bellows is probably only second in setup to an S366 turbo with stg ones.

The D66 has helped but thru the years with all my mods in my signature I've always had more power then I can use. You have to remember now, some of these hills are 6 to 10 miles long. I think but don't know, most every setup would be limited by EGT's in that long of a pull. Sure, if I floored it I could go 50-60mph up the hills but I wouldn't have a motor for long.

I'm chatting with Majstic Turbo on having mine built to a 66mm for now since cash is tight or I'm gonna go with a HX-50 with a 19cm (it's free)

I think you need another air conditioner and pipe the cool air into the intercooler for when your pulling those steep grades.

For me towing isn't a issue since in La. it's all flat. The biggest hill I have is the bridge over the Mississippi river

Oh yea i know the type of hills you are talking about we have a quiet a few like thag here. And you are correct, every setup would have trouble pulling those hills. I cant think of anything that would help more other than larger nozzles on your water/meth injector.

Rich, I do have an extra portable ac in the camper to suppament the roof air because this big camper should have come with two roof airs. This portable is great, so you say put it in the back seat and pipe the cold air into the IC, great idea! LOL
