You'll just have to search some older threads and google to see if you can find the codes. Those things don't read much on the 7.3 out of the box. Some have figure out certain codes (look more like equations) that you can enter so it recognizes and starts to monitor other things. I don't know if tranny temp is one of them.
The Aeroforce scangauge will monitor the tranny temps for you. You just need to select it from the menu of things to monitor.

The 99's do not come with a OEM transmission temperature gauge so I am stilll not sure if the scangauge can pick up a trans temp?
I have added a independent transmisson temperature gauge which required adding a transmission temperature sending unit.
I thought it might be good for reading and clearing codes but was wondering if it scanned anything worth scanning....

The aeroforce scan guage will scan all sorts of things, as well as run an injector buzz test and cylinder contribution test. The rectangular scangauge II won't pull nearly as much information or pull many meaningful codes, or be able to run any tests.
