I just got this edge juice with attitude for my truck, and of course after I got it people are saying I shouldn't use it on an automatic. Why is this? Is there anything I can do to prevent transmission problems?
To prevent transmission problems get rid of that edge. They have horrible tuning and chase problems with these transmissions. The only way to go with a 6.0 is SCT with customs tunes.

What's the model # ? I had (actually still have) an EJF1000WAM. The tranny would flare horribly when it was set on level 3, or higher. The newer models were less destructive, but offered much less available power. Drive like a normal person, with it on the lower power settings, and you reduce your risk of damaging anything. There are much safer options if you expect to be driving more aggressively.
There should be another identifier on the Juice module (the one that mounts under the hood), or the Attitude in cab display. Is this something you recently purchased new?
That's the newer version. Take it easy with it and you can minimize your risk of blowing anything up. Regardless of what you use to increase the power, there is always a risk.
There are a few guys that swear they(Edge) don't cause problems, but there is a greater number of people that run custom tunes with an SCT, and get better performance.
First of all, don't confuse the Juice/Attitude with the Evolution. Some people just seem to say "Edge" and lump them all together.
I'd lose the Juice. Basically, it sits between the PCM and the rest of the truck, takes sensor input from the truck and modifies it and feeds it to the PCM, causing the PCM to do stuff it probably wouldn't do. My understanding is it makes power pretty much through timing advances and it does little more to the tranny than increase line pressures.
The Evolution is an actual programmer, just like the SCT. The difference is it just has the canned tunes and doesn't support custom tunes in it's stock form. But for me, I have a canned (completely stock) truck, so I don't see why the canned tunes shouldn't be just fine. The Evo program's the ECM and TCM also.

David I think your onto something here
To me it Explains my Hit n Mis therory on the problematic trucks vs ones that do Good with the Edge tunners
I knew some have ran them along time with no problems and others are not so Lucky with the Edge. I was think it might of had something to do with Trans Type what might be alittle of the Deal but the diffrent tunning Makes Sense to me too
Im pretty mechanical, and will know if its causing the tranny to act funny. I'm gonna drive it a bit, and see what it does. I dont tow anymore so the truck wont see too much abuse. I was just asking to see if this thing caused the trany to run hot or shift inconsistantly. THe juice w attitude appealed to me to be able to change power settings on the fly, that you cant do with the flash tuners. But I now understand That this type of tuner just manipulates the stock tune instead of replacing it. Time will tell how this thing acts. The truck currently isn't on the road due to some projects that I'm in the process of doing to it, so it will be a little while until I can actually drive it on a regular basis.
Im not saying your not mechanicaly inclined at all so dont take this wrong
But by the Time you can feel the trans having a Hard time shifting the damage has been done and its to Late
And the SOF=Shift On Fly Tunners are the worst thing you can get Its almost like your computer it needs to shutdown and restart for the Changes to take affect
