As long as you keep it below level 3 you will have minimal problems, but the transmission wont like you for it. If you run it on the higher settings your transmission will most likely go out. You can use it for gauges and keep it on stock (what I do) and use a diffrent programer but some people say that it still affects the way the truck run such as defuels and shifts. I havent noticed but its on my feed truck so im not hot rodding it around all the time. Im not saying you wount like it or not to get it just informing you of some problems with edge. I wouldnt give more than 350 for it because you can get a SCT for 380.

Just sold my edge that I bought for gauges... It defueled by sct program and 4-5 shifts were not what I liked (edge in stock mode) any programmer/tuner is going to wake the beast. The edge is just plain hard on the tranny. I sold my edge for $250 today. I wouldn't pay anymore than that because you will have trouble recouping your money I lost money shipping it but the new owner has a 6sp so tranny problems arnt a issue for him.

Befor getting a "hot" tune look into gauges and 4'' exhaust

Edge is bad for the tranny and like above stated and modules as it dosent address the tcm when tuning. For the comment any good tuner comes with gauges.... Yes and no... The xcal 3 uses the same tunes as the livewire. The difference is cost. The livewire can be set up as gauges. The xcal 3 and live wire are both equally as good of tuners. The cost of using analog gauges makes the price between livewire and x3 comparible but with analog gauges you will get more accurate data. The edge, bully dog, banks, etc are designed for the mass user that are not educated. They spend countless amount on advertising their products. Any tuner can cause damage to these trucks no matter what the claim as stock trucks have had egr and head gasket failures. The bottom line is pick you poison tuning. The sct is better no matter how you slice it. The edge with hot unlock dosnt hold a candle to the 175hp spartab hybrid race tune in my truck. The top edge setting was no where near as fast and it didn't shift well.

I have used the Edge Juice w/ Attitude for the last two years and have had no issues related to using the programmer, but I am very nice to my truck and only used it on level two when towing (in stock the rest of the time). I never really noticed any shifting changes or problems when running it and like I said, I never drove it hard.

I do have a friend that also uses it that has toasted his heads with it, as he drives much more aggressively than I do. That being said, I just recently purchased the SCT Livewire. Just messin around, I ran my edge on level 1 - 3 for a week and then removed it. I flashed it with the SCT street tune (not the tow or race tune) and the difference is incredible (in my opinion). The SCT seemed to have more power and it definitely shifted better (the TC locked up quicker).

Both the edge and the SCT could monitor the engine vitals (i don't really care as I have analog guages too), so they are pretty comparable in that category. The one dissadvatage of the SCT is it is a flash and you can't change the program "on the fly". Other than that, in my opinion, the SCT is the only way to go with a 6.0 liter.

If i could go back to day one, I would not have wasted my money with the edge and just got the SCT. To reiterate what others said above, I think the way you drive your truck dictates what issues you will have no matter which programmer you use.

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for a hot rod product for more power stay away from the edge. It's not a matter of "if" it's a matter of when it will eat your trans. For power and reliability go with the SCT.

I couldn't agree more with the above responses, as I'm one of the "Johnny Hotrods" that payed the price for the Edge Tuner. I have the Juice Platinum w/ Attitude. Drove most of the time in level 5, blew the tranny racing a guy, spent $3600 to have it rebuilt. When I picked it up from the shop it drove fine home (Dallas to San Antonio on Level 1). On my return trip to Dallas, tranny started slipping big time between 3/4 and 4/5. Took it back to the shop they had it for 2 more weeks and dropped the tranny no less than 3 times. They couldn't find a problem. I unplugged the Edge and plugged in the factory wires, they cleared the computer codes and the truck ran perfect. When I plugged the programmer back in, it started slipping again. This is a very much documented case. I've contacted Edge and I have to have the programmer back to them by April 18th as this is the 1 year anniversary for it's build so they can check it out to see why it's causing my tranny to slip between these said gears. It has been said on here by many a person..."You play....You Pay!"

well i like to think i dont "beat" my spaceship.......but then again i call it the "spaceship"...i havent done anything to this truck myself,,,,but i have driven like 4 or 5 other trucks that have upgrades and to be honest i dont think my truck is much slower or lags any in the towing department.....but everyone tells me that once you feel your 6.0 with a tuner you will never go back....and im not tryin to be a penny pincher ,,,but with money issues bein what they are and haveing someone wanting to get rid of one and probobly cheap,,,,he said he loved it ,,,,i dont know i just dont want to break my truck lol...but at the same time i do want to get better millage if possible and when i want to mess around a bit be able to smoke a camaro or civic tuner.......im one of those guys who likes a million opinions to think about before i make a decition.

I understand what you are saying. I think you are more likely to hurt your truck with an Edge rather than an SCT. I will say that when I switched to the SCT, I saw an instant 2 mpg increase over what my edge was getting me. I was getting 16ish mixed driving and now get 18 mixed driving. So they definitely help on the mileage.

As for power, where I really notice the difference of a tuner is when towing on a summit. Without a tuner, pulling my jeep on a trailer with my camper on, my truck will hold 60 over the passes here in Washington, but won't go any faster. With a tuner, it will easily hold 70 and I can speed up any time I want. That being said, I can usually pull most of the passes at 60 in overdrive with the tuner. To me, that makes all of the difference.

The tuners definitely wake the truck up. My recommendation is that a tuner for the 6.0s a great mod and worth the money. I wouldn't waste your time and money on an edge (personal opinion from having both), just get an SCT.

I have the Edge with Attitude and I like it. I mostly use in tow mode when I'm doing the same - no racing. I like the alerts and the gauge features.

I've had it for a couple of years, no problems. But I "baby" my truck (unless I'm pulling grades fully loaded at 18klbs ).

The baby comment applies to p.m. and daily driving.

I have had both, the Juice w/attitude on my 04 and the SCT on my 05.
If you are going to spend your hard earned dollars, pass on the edge and get the SCT, much safer choice for your trans and the vendor will work with you and your tune till you like it, + it's safer on the enigne. Edge makes some good products, but for the 6.0L the SCT is the BEST. There are more options available to you to tailor the truck the way you want, towing, exhaust brake, fuel economy, power, valet tune, etc. Pretty much anything you want. There are several great vendors you can choose from so you are not stuck with one if you don't like their tunes.

I did a lot of research before buying being worried about reliability first and also fuel economy, power, towing and chose the SCT. I have been running an extreme street tune daily since last fall. 100% city driving is up 1mpg and 100% hiway is up 2mpg, shifting has been improved immensely and the go power makes me smile every time.
