I have a 1994 f150 with a 302, the issue i have been having is it keeps takeing out the rear thrust in the crank have had to replace the crank 3 times now and still haven't solved the problem any sugestions?
What trans do you have? If auto, it could be that you have a ballooning torque converter problem. If so you would need to check the trans line pressures and replace the converter.
May have the same thing happening to the new converter if excessive line pressure. It would seem like something is putting extreme thrust on the crank.
No, engine has to be connected up and running and a pressure gauge fitted to the test port on the trans.

Reason: More info.
ok the engine came out of a 1989 f150 that was in a car crash it was the only thing that survived. bought the truck with a blow engine they thew a rod though the block. so we put the 89 engine in the 94 chassis the trans was from the 94 the first crank was we had the wrong size flex plate in it so that one didnt last long. the second crank was blown front cover gasket got water in the oil and now it will be the third and im trying to get info to fix the issue once and for all. and would there be anything in the trans that could push the crank into the thrust?
Anything strange going on with the transmission? What trans is it? Does it have a lockup converter? Does it lock/unlock normally, does the truck ever stall when coming to a stop?
