I read a post about a month back where a member had an issue with his truck hesitating or missing when if was cold between 45-52 mph in overdrive under light throttle. Mine us doing it before it gets up to operating temp. When I mash on it it quits. I changed out my gray cps for a black one and it still does it. Any ideas on what go check next? I would love to hook it up to AE but I do not have one.
Thanks
When mine was doing that it was the injectors showing their wear. How many miles on the injectors? Have you had the valve covers off and observed oil discharge cold vs warm? Buzz tests would be nice if someone local could help cold vs warm with those too.
The key with a Buzz test is to do it cold and compare it to warm really. At home without diagnostic tools, you can watch the oil with the valve covers off as a start.
In similar ways I suppose, although I had an issue one time with a high to low open code that resistance of the coil on the solenoid measured fine. However when it was being energized by the IDM while running the clearance between the armature plate and the solenoid was too close due to a loose torx screw that holds the armature to the poppet valve and it would not buzz.
I stopped in at a shop today just to see what it would cost to check it out. He says 100-150, He says he has the Ford computer. I asked him what the labor would be on an injector and hes says he recommends doing all 4 in the bank(makes since i suppose) He says I know its expenseive but........Then I look on Clays site and see FullForce rebuilt stock for 125. Allaint new for 212 and I see the stage 1's for 1095!! GGood Lord is that a piece??
If-if-IF your injectors are truely bad, consider this: Remans are used and I've been told to expect about 100K miles out of those. This is one of those things that doing it twice is more expensive and inconvenient than getting new ones and doing it once for a long life. This depends on how long you plan to keep the truck. So... stock or upgrade/retune?
When I'm due, I'm going with a full set of stock Alliants.
