I have a 2002 F250 SD with the 7.3L and want some additive for the cooling system, Ford FW-16 is what I have been told I need, does WIX make a suitable additive for my purpose.
There is Napakool from Napa Auto Parts, Ford P/N FW-15 or FW-16, and Fleetguard P/N DCA4 that takes care of the coolant additive requirement for our diesels. I'm sure there are more, those are the ones I am aware of.
I agree with Robin, SCA additive is required. You could change the coolant over to ELC (Extended Life Coolant) which does not require SCA addtive ever again. The additional advantage of ELC coolants is that they are generally in the 300-500 thousand miles between replacement/recharging. I use Delo ELC and it can go 750,000 miles/12,000 hours operation/8years between changes or I can add an extender and go 1,000,000 miles. Not likely I will ever need to change my anti-freeze. Be sure if you decide to go the ELC route that you follow the instructions here.
That is correct, except I volunteered my early 1999 to Delo ELC 25,000 miles ago (4 years ago) with no problems to date...I just jinxed myself !
FYI Neal,
Some have run ELC in their E99s without any noticable problem, but I know of three who ran ELC in their E99s that experienced a problem or a problem that might be about to happen. One had coolant leaking past the top of the cups on 5 injector bores. None of the cups were cracked. He had run ELC for about 40K. When he went to pull them they came out way to easy and didn't have that snap on release. My guess is that the E99 retaining compound had deteriorated. The other, and myself (although there was no apparrent leak) experienced the same easing out of several cups rather than the snap that the other cups made as they released. I was installing new sticks and figured I would do new cups and use the proper retaining compound while I was at it. I had run the ELC for about 9.6K.

Keep an eye out for fuel in the degas bottle.
It is an item I check every time the hood gets opened. After my recovery I am planning on pulling injectors to have them flow tested/rebuilt and will put in new cups with the update sealant. Thanks!
