I have a 2000 EB, and I was wondering if there was a wahy for me to wire a kill switch for the interior lights. The reason I ask is I camp regularly, and the liftgate gets left open. The battery died twice because of that. I found that if I put a keyring in the liftgate latch, the lights go off. I just want a way to kill all interior lights so I don't have to worry about remembering to take the key ring out, and putting it back in.
Thanks for the information. I am a little confused as to which panel comes off. When looking in the truck from the rear, is it the one directly to your left? The one with a little plastic panel that comes out easily? Also, do you have any pictures of what the switch looks like?
Go to Radio Shack and ask for a on/off rocker switch. (you don't need to buy one that lights up) Then the piller on the left hand side (same as airconditioner) I'll try and post a pic tonight for you.
Anyhow, cut the white w/purple strip wire connect and mount the switch and your done. You'll know right away if you've cut the right wire, lights will go out!
Remove the rear pillar-cover, drivers side, that covers the top anchor-point of the third seat seat-belt and the rear, pop-out window actuator. Cut the white wire/purple stripe and wire in a single pole/single throw rocker switch (Radio shack - $3.00). I used a 3/4" wood bit to drill the hole in the panel and it worked absolutely perfect--I placed the hole directly behind the third seat seatbelt so you really cant see it. Good luck.
