Picked this up from a friend of mine for $500, and it came with a parts truck too. It was his Dad's ranch truck for the last 2 years so its been beat pretty good, owner before him treated it even worse lol. I've never owned a ford, owned nothing but chevys up until 2 years ago when i caught the jeep bug, so this ford will be a learning experience for me. His Dad passed away last december so i bought the truck from his mom to help her with some bills.
Anyway it has a 300 inline 6, 4speed trans w/granny, 4x4. I looked up some of the option codes on the door sticker and ifs its original then it has 3:55 gears.
Right now im jut trying to get it road worthy again and reliable. Needs alot of love but hopefully i can get it back looking good also. Drove it from the ranch to the shop which was a fun drive lol, steering has about 6inches of play due to bad steering box, bad draglink/tierods, front crossmember was missing and a crack in the frame about 3 inches in front of the steering box lol. It has electrical gremlins that we are slowly working out, Lots of rust and some bondo covering some more rust. It has dodge rims, jeep tires and a chevy seat lol.
heres what it looked like when i got it back to the shop.
the good side:
the bad side:
Engine bay:
Interior: note the custom seat brackets lol
Parts truck in going to supply a new stepside bed, already pulled headers, intake and the front crossmemeber off, steering box if im lucky, and whatever else i can find thats still good lol. I have a video of us using jeep winches to put the donor truck on its side to get the header flanges loose lol, its on my friends phone, im just waiting for him to send me a copy of it.
some parts from the donor truck. Clifford intake, headman headers and the front cross member:
got all the lights and blinkers working again. Horn is wired to the steering wheel again instead of on a button on the side of the column, and a new steering wheel:
ignore the spaghetti hanging out of the dash, radio wiring is all messed up also just havent got to it yet
Awesome deal CJB321. It's actually a pretty good looking truck, just needs some TLC. It probably was not maintained as good as it should have been. At least it will give you something to do min your spare time, Lol. And welcome to the forum.
havent updated this but not much done since i got the truck since my job keeps me from having time to work on it. Dont have any pictures but steering box from the donor truck was swapped in, little better but i think im just going to get a new one, radius arm bushings replaced, draglink/tierods replaced but i should have waited because i think im going to use the frame and cab from the donor truck since that frame is straight and the cab has less rust issues. Also have to put the transfer case back together and put it back in, tried to use it to fix the one in a friends bronco but didnt work so he got a new one for his truck and mine is in pieces on the shop floor lol
