I'm not sure what it is yet. I need to get the truck in for a look, and the PCM/NOX calibrations. I got to work without it on and went out around lunch time and it came on.
I just changed the oil (yesterday) and added DEF (late last week), not sure if that has anything to do with it. I did re-set the oil meter/timer thingy back in the menu.
My air sensor on the intake tube by the filter housing comes loose sometimes when I bump it. I get the CEL and I seat the plug, CEL goes away.
Hopefully same for you. It's an easy one to bugger up.
Bingo! False alarm.
I popped the wire off to look at the air filter and forgot to plug it back in. It hit me while I was in the shower what it was.
On a side note, the meter thingy for filter restriction doesn't show anything but the filter doesn't look too clean. I may go ahead and replace it. I'm at 20,000 miles.

Lots of folks do that, but I always wonder why. If nobody is going to use the filter restriction gauge why do they even put it on the truck? Not to be difficult or anything, but just like engine oil the simple appearance of the filter means very little. The filter could be as black as your tire and if it's still filtering and moving enough air it's still just fine.

I think that goes back to the huge filters they put on the 7.3's and the 6.0's - they could hold pounds of dirt and still work correctly. The housings were a PITA to open, so the meter helped.
I was the same way with the couple of 6.0's I had. I changed the air filter every 100k if it needed it or not. It was amazing how long they lasted. With the 2011 the longest I could stand to have it in there was 30k miles and at 15 bucks, I changed it anyways.
Just a quick note on the CEL with the cable on the air intake off -
It took my CEL a long time to go back off. I re-set the connection after the light stayed on and the next day it was off. It isn't something that goes off as soon as you plug the connector back in.
I just realized that I had the same thing about a year and a half ago. I was reading the manual and followed the instructions to disconnect the sensor and forgot to plug it back in. I started the truck to drive to town and saw the CEL, and when I got home I scanned it and immediately knew what was wrong.
Not for this truck. I have a diablo sport predator I used with my silverado, but I don't believe it will read anything off the super duty.
