information needed
I recently (2 days ago) bought my dream truck. A well worn F-250 Camper Special with a 460 and a 4 speed.
I live in the CaliforniaSSR and have just found out the 2bbl carb my truck came with is not legal (go figure). I'm trying to find out what came stock on my truck and how to find one to replace the 500cfm holley its currently running.
Any part numbers, good guesses, crayon drawings or links to other sites would be much appreciated. My goal is to make it legal and smoggable.
Thank you for looking.

What's the DSO (Last code on the door warranty plate)?
If this is for the '78 in your profile, according to the Ford parts catalog it should have a Motorcraft 4 bbl carb.
Motorcraft carbs have a metal tag that identifies them held on by one of the bowl screws.
This is what the Ford parts catalog says:
Carburetor
78 F150-250 w Cal emissions
Tag number D8TE-AKA
P/N D8TZ-9510-AK
BTW, welcome to FTE, lots of good, knowledgeable people here.
Carburetor D8TZ-9510-AK
Parts International, Farmers Branch, TX has 1 (972) 241-8730
Kinsel Lincoln-Mercury, Beaumont, TX has 1 (800) 816-2894
My DSO code is 72
My Vin is F26SRCC5606.
Don't know if the vin is useful
I called the parts house and that carb you turned me on to is 534.00 dollars. (Wife is going top do cheetah flips when she hears this, but---meh. She'll get over it.
So if my DSO and vin concur and say that's the carb for me, I'll buy asap.
Btw, will have to use a stock cast-iron manifold or will a performer suffice?
Thanks again.

F26SRCC5606
F26=F250 4WD pick up
S= 400 cu in 2 bbl carb
R= San Jose Assembly plant
CC5606= Consecutive serial number.
DSO 72= San Jose District Sales Office
Double check and see if it's a 400 instead of a 460.
And I'd say it did come with Cali emissions.
