Here is a pic of the hub Dave has; the more I look at it, the more wrong it looks...

Dave, is this trans a LD 3-sp or a HD 3-sp? As far as I know, the 11" clutch was never used with the LD trans, only the HD and the 4-sp spur gear tranny.

Need to clarify....I should say, no part of the hub besides the splined center......
In other words, the rivets and springs should not be near the fly wheel surface. Splined hub length is 1 5/8. Friction surface is roughly .375" thick. Pic of a USED 11" original disk...I don't have a 10" disk to compare.

I compared 10 and 11 inch pressure plates, other than overall diameter they are basically the same.
Both have the same distance from mounting surface to top of fingers.....2 3/4" with no disk or tension on them.

You might just take your old 10" clutch to a place that rebuilds them and have them make it into an 11" clutch if you must have the 11". In Austin Tx us locals can go to Austin Texas, Inland Truck Parts Company

That release hub looks like the one for the 48-5? F7 F8 trucks - This is arrived at by the pictures in the maintenance manual showing the F7/8 assembly with part number and a Job Lots catalog showing the same part number for F7/8 and a different p/n for the F1-6 trucks
Maybe it wasn't my horse maybe it was my armidillo

Which tranny is what? - The one Dave got from me? - It's a light duty 3 speed
If you mean which tranny uses the throwout bearing thingy you posted all F7/8 trucks all trannys - Same for the throw out bearing set up I showed F1/F6 all trannys - That is according to my research today with the maintence manual and the Job Lots catalog
OK my armidillo is in the refrig so it must be my duck thats missing

I meant which tranny did you pawn off -- er, sell to Dave.

So if the 11" clutch hub is an 1/8" longer than the 10" hub, that is one issue. The rivets hitting the flywheel is another. If the release bearing hub is wrong, that's a third.

-- grind off an 1/8" from the trans side of the disc hub (actually you need to remove an 1/8" of spline from the ID)
-- either grind down the rivets a little or grind the recess lip on the flywheel
-- Do you have the RB hub from the column shifter trans? It should be the same for the floor shift LD 3-sp

Sloppy Joe, I never had a 10" clutch. The one I removed from my original setup was 11". Thats the reason I ordered the 11", just because thats what was in there and I figured thats what I needed.

Ross, I do not have the release bearing hub that came from my original setup, I gave it to the guy that I gave my old trans to. The one in the picture I sent you was from Dennis Carpenters website, they assured me that was the one for my 51 F1. I just talked to the guy I gave my trans to and he said the release bearing hub I gave him is the same as the one I bought from Dennis Carpenter.

The release bearing hub pictured in Dicks pictures looks like the one I had in my 69 bronco with a 3 speed. On LMC's website they have the same hub pictured that I have and it says 48- 52 f1-f2

Here is a thought . If that 10" disc will fit without interference just get it rebuilt and use it with the 11" PP .Unless your going drag racing or hauling grain it will work just fine .
My apologies if that is what you already suggested Ross .

No drag racing or hauling grain for me lol! Just cruising it to walmart or lowes and to work.

If I had a 10" clutch I would use it. I dont have one though. The clutch I removed was an 11" The reason I ordered another 11" is because thats what was in the truck. It was worn and not even worthy of being reused.

I just ordered an 10" kit from Dennis Carpenter. It will be here thursday, hopefully installed by Sunday evening.

OK - I just made a trip back to the garage to look at the light duty 3 speed column shift trans that I took out of the 51/52 panel I tore apart several years ago - I didn't have to move anything just climb over 3ft of stuff all balanced on edge
Results - I am officially confused and all the books are telling me lies - 10 in clutch - bigger diameter bearing and the hub may be different - WTFO - Some pics tomorrow

Thanks Dick,

I was hoping you found some differences. So you are saying the throwout bearing may be different too?

Well, at least we are learning first hand from my setbacks.

My CD says everything below F-7/-8 uses the same bearing, same release hub.
