Replacement engine - difference between 5-speed & E8OD
Rather than just swapping my head, I'm considering a full engine swap for my 5-speed '91 F-150. Cruising Car-part.com I see separate listings for the 5-speed vs. Automatic versions of the engine. Since the automatic versions seem to be more common, I'm wondering if I can use one of those - yes, no, maybe? What is actually different between the two motors?

About the only difference I can think of would be the flywheel/flexplate on the back of the engine. But, since you already have one, you could reuse what's on the back of yours.
Other than that, I can't think of a single thing that would differentiate them.
