Engine Cooler (pics)

I have been wanting to do this for along time and finally got around to doing it today. My engine has always ran hot since I rebuilt it, dont know if it is do to being bored 50 over or whatever so i thought i would put a engine cooler on it and try it out. I just bought a relocation kit and a cooler and combined them. built a bracket out of 1x1 steel, 1 across from side to side and two up to hold cooler, bolted to bottom two radiator bolts. drilled the two holes out at hump in core support. built bracket to mount oil filter to, then bolted it to block. had 50 psi at idle, now have about 47psi not a bad drop. haven't actual went and drove it yet. will tomorrow. One question, normally I put 5 quarts in at change, and full, but alot of people say 6, so I have six in it right now, should make up for the oil lines and cooler. Just thought I would show all of you, thanks

Of course you know already, but I hope you used the barbed hose fittings so the hoses can't be removed w/o cutting them? That would be a step down from braided line and the special fittings that I can't remember the name of. Having so much rubber hose carrying my oil through the engine compartment makes me nervous.

BTW, if you're reading 50 psi hot at idle, that would worry me and make me think that maybe one or more bearings are too tight. Good luck. The installation looks nice, but if it were me, I'd put grommets in the thru-bulkhead holes for the lines. I have used a similar system. Luckily I noticed the oil psi gauge drop when I was driving and turned off the key a second later. Your engine now depends on the reliability of those rubber hoses.

Ya there barbed fittings, and I did make some rubber grommets for the holes this morning. The hose is some really thick .25 wall cooler hose so I'm not to worried about a blow out. I will eventually have some real metal/rubber hydraulic like hoses made i just needed to get everything fitted. As far as the high pressure could be a bearing, during the summer time it drops down to about 40 at idle. Is what it is. Maybe will fix some problems and make new ones. thanks guys

With my straight six, I think I read near 37 PSI at 2000 RPM hot and around 15-20 idling hot.
