gearing??????????????

my buddy and i was talking last night, and we came to the conclusion that 450hp is a bit to much for the gearing in my truck. i have some chevy 5.13's. we r under the impression tht it will run out of gears way to fast, i wanted to run some 4.10 but he still thinks ill be redline before quarter mile is up, so what do u guys think. truck isnt going to be track truck, but will b at the track occasionally. basically will b play on interstate with my buddies import cars on the way to r fishing holes and also to mess around town with. it has a 4speed shtick in it idk the gear ratio's. but would still liike to c 100mph+ bc its always fun to see peoples faces after they get smoked by a 45 year old truck. i will be running 33's and 31's i got 4 31 drag slicks and 1 set of road tires and a set of 33 boggers. mostly run the slicks around town whiich r the 31's

Trying to make some sense out of this very long "sentence/text". What kind of truck? Engine size? Chevy 5.13's?

4:56 might be an ideal ratio. What axles are you running? What makes it a chevy 5:13? If it's a Dana axle they are just gears as they came in chev, dodge, and ford. If you run a chevy 14 bolt rear I could see you call it a chevy gear.
You should of posted this in the Offroad forum or even 73-79 section. You'll get more responses. I Only seen it as I got a notification you made a new post after adding as buddy.

I run 5:13's but with 44''swampers. Seems to work fine with lots of gear. I may have gone 5:38 but the don't make that gear for a d70 rear like I have. 14 bolts and d60's did but no 70.

dANA 44 front and 60 rear, when im done on the build it is a safe guess on 450 hp, i want to run dana 60 front and rear on 33s, you run 5.13 but you have 44's wich gives you the extra gear you need. plus 44s take a **** ton of power to run good too. i love seeing 200hp toyota with 44s. its funny that they think the axles and motor is beefy enough.

Throw the d60 rear in the trash. Go 14 bolt, sterling 10.25 or d70

I run a Dana 60, in a 70 F250 with a semi mild 390 and a C6 with a a set of 4:10's in the back with 33x12.50x16.5's on it..and its the best of both worlds..I wouldnt even consider running 5:13's in the back unless I was Truck pulling..and its still has enough Torque to blow the tires off from a stop with a Soft locker in it..from a dead stop ! I think with my BFG T/A radials..it runs about 2500rpm at 60+ mph.. I can pull a trailer with it..and not even know its back there..and yet still make the Dodge boys cry for mercy !! JMO...

Keep us posted !
