Fuel line confusion

I have a 1979 Ford F-100 Explorer. I was under the truck the other day after doing some resto work in the cab and found a line not connected under the hood. I traced it back to the fuel tank. It is running down the passenger side of the truck. I traced back another line that goes down the drivers side of the truck and it too goes to the fuel tank but it is connected to the fuel pump. Do any of you think they replaced the fuel line and just left the old one or do I need to be concerned about where the passenger side line goes? Maybe it is some sort of vent? Any help would be great.

Thanks

Fuel line confusion

That is your evaporative emissions control line. It basically just collects all the vapors from the gas tank, and prevents them from being vented to the atmosphere. It should connect into the charcoal canister, on the pass side framerail, right behind the radiator. If it wasn't hooked to anything, then somebody probably removed the canister.
