I recently installed a BD 3"Down Pipe. Now my truck has a knock like sound when i get into 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. It won't make noise all the time. Is the fly wheel going out? Whats my problem.
it starts off quiet and will get louder depending on speed. its like a vibration that goes to a slight knocking. i don't know how else to describe it. so do yall think it is the down pipe. i think it is because the people i bought the truck from had the clutch and flywheel and the whole works replaced.
When I power uphill round a right hand bend, my truck sounds like it is dying. The downpipe manages to contact the firewall in that instance, and it sounds like any amount of knocking, because the percussive attitude of the engine is being conducted straight into the cab, rather than out through the exhaust.
I have not bothered to do anything with it, as is a rare but predicable disturbance. If you hear similar sounds after putting in a larger downpipe, then that object is very likely to be the culprit.
