Just bought 4 - 1gal. bottles of Opti-Lube XPD & going to give it a go.
I've been using Diesel Kleen (Silver) & double dose when towing. The Diesel Kleen was readly available @ any Wal-Mart for when we travel with the 1/5th whl so that was the main reason for using it.
The ratio of Opti-Lube is 0.25 oz./gal. vs Diesel Kleen (Silver) @ 0.32 oz./gal.
Can anyone chime in with their experience with Opti-Lube?
I've burn a gallon of XPD through my truck....gained about half a mile-per-gallon. When I started blending it with DK-Gray I gain about another half to almost another full MPG. I know the stuff smell horrible when you compare it to other addivites. The only reason I've stopped burning it is because I have to mail order the stuff; where as DK is available at my local farm/ranch store.
I've been using it for almost 6 months. 110K on the truck. She's my daily driver so I thought I noticed a .5 mpg gain before winter hit but couldn't verify anything when my local fuel station switched to winter fuel. I was a little paranoid about what the previous owner may or may not have ran through her so i mixed .5 oz/gallon through the winter but have switched to .25oz/gallon since its warmed up. I haven't really noticed a difference since the change. I will probably mix .25oz from now on. The truck didn't have any issues prior to me switching I just did it for the potential long term gains.
Opti-Lube is made by Lubrizol Co. to their specs. Some of the Motorcraft additives are made by Gold Eagle and if you look at the XPD MSDS data it's quite similar to Fords PM-22 MSDS data.

I have used Optilube since 2007 and had great luck with it in all my diesels including tractors. PS has never helped with MPG like Optilube does.
If you use the TDI Club group buy, you only pay $4.75 per order. So you could buy 4 gallalons and only pay $4.75 shipping.
Just ran across this thread after searching for Opti-Lube price increase. Been using it for years, but the price increase is getting out of hand. Checked out the TDI club buys, but it's not clear to me how it works. Can somebody expand...?

Thanks
The TDI Club Goup buy allows you to buy gallons for $4.75 in shipping. If you buy 4 of the same gallons, you pay 4.75 for shipping total. If you buy 1 xpd and 1 summer you end up paying $9.50 in shipping. I am unsure of why its this way, but it saves a lot of money. Its best to buy all of the same product to really save.
They also have 5 gallon pails with free shipping now. That is a HUGE savings over the Optilube website. The guy who runs Diesel Fuel Lube has taken care of all the poeple who bought from him. If you read that group buy thread, he does a good job.
