Last year I put a rebuilt starter on my 88 E350 7.3 because the old one had been fried by the previous owner.
The one I was given was smaller in diameter with the through bolts on the outside.
It has cranked slow ever since so I just bought two new 1000 CA batteries, no change at all.
What I did notice is that after maybe 10-15 seconds of cranking the through bolts get incredibly hot, is it the wrong starter, is it assembled wrong, any ideas?
