Hello everyone, I'm looking for some info on this truck repair shop in Buford, Alabama, called powerstrokehelp, He offers to bullet proof your 6.0l for $4900.00. He has videos on youtube showing what they do and offer for your 6.0l, Just looking for hints as what to do with my truck, it just got diagnosed with the head gasket or cracked head pressurizing the coolant system. I like my truck and putting in $5000-$8000 into it is alot cheaper than buying a new or someone elses used trouble. I have a 2006 F250SD 6.0l with 175,000kms. I tow a 12,000 lb fifth wheel, so i need my truck. My son inlaw spent $3000 on having 3 injectors replaced at the local Ford dealer on his 05, 6.0l in his F350, I do not want to go that route. Like i said, looking for info from any body that has dealt with this shop in the Atlanta area. It sounds good. Heres a link to his video COST OF BULLETPROOFING THE 6.0L POWERSTROKE - YouTube
Thank you for any info, camping season is now here,
I NEED MY TRUCK FIXED
There are folks that swear by him and others that think he is somewhat south of that. I have no opinion either way and have no personal experience with him, only what I've found on his webpage. Most of what he says on there and in his videos makes sense in principle.
You can certainly shop around and find a local mechanic knowledgable in 6.0 PSD problems whether it is at a Ford dealer or not, for me I've been fortunate in finding a guy that does what he says, fixes my truck(s) doesn't charge me more than is fair and has a relationship with his customers.
i second that. i'd rather do the work myself. it'll be a great opportunity to gather round some friends and all of y'alls can get together to work on ur truck.
my 2 cents as well. at the end of the day, it's still ur call.
The techs on this forum don't like him. I think they're just jealous.
I think he knows what he's doing but the problem with shops, in all my experience, is that you find somebody really good so you take your truck there and it gets handed off to "the kid" fresh out of high school who doesn't know a screw driver from a hammer and can't find his way home after ****ing your truck.

I can promise you that's not the case. PSHelp guy has put out a LOT of misinformation that's been busted more than once. He has a good sales pitch. Quality work not so much. My advice would be to go to the Alabama state chapter of FTE and ask about a reputable shop (dealership or otherwise) that has a reputation for good quality and fair prices.

Well said!! The Techs here are extremely generous with their time and they help people FOR FREE. We are quite fortunate to have them here! Labeling them as jealous is an incredible disservice and it couldn't be further from the truth - especially for the two Techs here that I know and talk to frequently.
Just to list a few issues w/ his "expertise":
1. Our Gold coolant is NOT Propylene Glycol - talk about a rookie mistake ....
2. Our transmission fluid is not MERCRON V (and I spelled it the way he says it) - now that mistake could cost someone a transmission (the "V" part, not the grammar part)
3. The degas cap potential for being weak is NOT the major danger to significant engine damage that he says. A weak cap simply will NOT cause major issues, in fact our systems are designed to run at 6-8 psig. The 15-16 psig cap rating is a pressure relief point, not an operating point like the old radiator caps.
4. The PCM's on our trucks are simply NOT high failure items (as he has stated to one FTE poster who was sold a PCM that didn't resolve the issues).
5. There are MANY people that are finding issues with Black Onyx head gaskets. They are simply not as good as the OEM gaskets. MAJOR mistake to recommend BO head gaskets.
6. He states that the water pumps need changeing for bulletproofing. The early water pumps had issues, but the later ones were just fine. No need for a water pump replacement on the later model years if the one in the truck is working fine. Another statement to sell things.
7. personally, I just don't see that valve train problems are all that common for the 6.0L ..........
I would imagine that he corrected #1 and #2 but there are more exagerated points like #3 and #4 that are intended to get people worried about their engine so that they will buy his services - like his EDAS (which is just a high priced pressure gauge on the degas system).
I am sure there are more, but those points were enough for me ..........

If your wanting to drive from Canada to Alabama, to get your truck worked on, just drive to TX instead I do these jobs for $1,100 in labor plus parts.
Or, you could try to contact M-chain he's in Canada and a great ford tech. I'm not really sure if he does side jobs or not, but it's worth a try.
As far as the Jealous comment... You have to be either out of your mind, or just joking right???
That guy puts out lots of missinformation as Mark has already pointed out
Thanks guys, I know it's far fetched for me to go to Alabama for a fix. It's going thru the process of finding a reputable mechanic in my area. It's buying the parts needed, going to a good head shop. Thanks again and i'll keep you posted on my progress. Is there a decent shop in the detroit area that someone can recommend?
