Relay noise
I've been restoring my 84 crew. Converted it to a dually. Replaced the fuel pumps, strainers, etc... Anyways I went to install a new battery and as soon as I connected the positive cable I heard a relay click. Sounds like one of the three over by the drivers firewall. Any reason one of those should be on? Ignition switch is in the off position. I was thinking that there was a parasitic draw on the battery perhaps this is it. Anybody got any thoughts on this.

What engine? A 460? With electric fuel pumps in the tanks? If so, I would think one of the relays was the fuel pump relay, the other may be the fuel pump selector relay(if you have or had dual tanks). I don't know what the other one would be. Unplug them and see what doesn't work.

I had'nt seen the selector relay in the book before. I've got a cover that houses two relays and one attached to the fender. One relay attached to the cover is the fuel pump cutoff relay. There should be trailer lamp relay and a marker lamp relay. That should be four relays. is that correct? I only see three. Any ideas Almost forgot yes 460 engine.l
