no fuel pump relay

92 Bronco full size *** after reading al the threads about the possible source of noise coming out of fuel tank I went about the task of changing out the fuel pump relay. after opening the plastic cover on the drivers side wheel well i was surprised to find out there were no relays in 2 of the 4 available slots. There was also no wording on the plastic indicating that there should be anything in the slots on the two empty. Where else could the fuel pump relay be? Thanks guys Texasgoat By the way the price of the relay at the local ford dealer is 7.49

There should be a couple of empty relay bays. They are there for factory option fog lights and other models that use the same power distro. that have different or more relays in them. What you need to worry about is whether or not there is a relay missing from a bay that actually has contacts under it. If you look closely, one or two of the empty bays will have no electrical contacts below the plastic floor of the power distro box. If, while standing at the front of the truck, you are looking into the engine bay, the fuel pump relay is the second relay from the right. The first one on the right is the PCM power relay.

$7.49 is a pretty fair price for a sealed automotive relay even if it is only an SPDT relay....#$%^&*ing electronics are always expensive.
