tc - flexplate question

I swapped motor in my truck--dropped a 01 in the truck. It was a manual truck and mine is automatic. I removed the 1\4 spacer behind the bellhousing adaptor and used the crank spacer and flexplate from my auto. I bolted the trans and the motor together(studs were alighned in flexplate) and went to tighten the nuts on the tc studs, but noticed that there was a 1\4" gap between the tc and fp. I tightened the nut and it slid the tc forward away from the pump that 1\4". Is this OK or is something off? Thanks

I haven't worked on these trans at all, but I'd think that is right. On all other I've worked on it does pull out a little bit. When I set up race cars they need to pull out 1/8 to 1/4 inch to be right.

Actually that is great! If you had no gap or was in a bind that is bad.pulling converter up to fp is a good sign.
