I've recently installed a TCI mustang ii but I've run into a slight problem, the springs are to stiff and the ride height is to high. Should I upgrade to the Qa1 coilovers? Does anyone have any experience with them? Or should I just replace the springs? Opinions needed, thanks!
Hey Cody,
Welcome Aboard! If there was any way you could post a pic or two
of your truck as it currently looks - you may get some better thoughts on
some next steps. What engine do you have in your truck? What springs did you use? 450 lbs? etc.
Have you tried adjusting your current Mustang II coilovers? I went with
a No limit Mustang II IFS in our 1950 - spent a lot of time adjusting the coilovers to get the stance right. What look are you going for?
Hey thanks for the response. Right now I've just got the standard set up in the mustang ii and am wondering what the benefits are to upgrading to the coilover? I would like a lower stance and create a more plush ride but am assuming I can accomplish both by installing a lower spring rate? Here's a quick pic of the truck in progress:
Hey Cody,
Truck stance is all about personal preference. (Your pic didn't make it up) - Here is what mine looks like with 18 inch wheels. I am very close to the absolute edge with the height & tire size. I had to put in a spring spacer to keep from bottoming out on the springs I've got (opposite of your problem).
I really think you will want to get the right springs in there to start with
& see how your ride is. Good luck.
Hey Bryan,
The paint color - I was trying to get something close to
a color I saw on old Vette's from the 50's. It's a late model
Honda metallic paint color that came closest.
The tires are 255-45-ZR18's - pretty big for that space.
