the brake pedal in 1978 f250 does not fully return. bleed brakes a few times with the perportioner valve held open for the fronts. the pedal comes back but still has another inch to go and you have to pull it up with your foot. the inch that does have to be pulled up does feel like you are moving the mc. is the mc bad?
My clutch has return spring under the dash, but no brake pedal should have a return spring under the dash. How old is the MC? There are springs inside the MC to return the pedal and take hydraulic pressure out of the system.
My 1977 F250 pedal was not returning at all, holding the brakes on, replacing the brake booster fixed it. Maybe yours is starting to fail or maybe just the bell crank linkage pivots need to be cleaned/lubed.
Why does it matter? Are the brakes not letting off all the way or is it just that your brake lights wont turn off? If its the latter, I just used a bungee coed to get the brake to come all the way back.
the brake lights are not a issue, that is adjustable. The brakes are dragging when I dont pull up the pedal. I should change the brake booster, it is the origional that came in it from 1978.
