winch mounts

I have a 95 F-250 X-cab 4x4 and am planning on buying a 9500 badlands winch for hunting and looks. I want to get a grill guard for my truck as well but would rather have my winch mounted on a front receiver hitch so I can remove it when needed. My question is, will I be able to have a grill guard and the winch on my truck at the same time? Or will the guard take up to much room? Also, is 9500lbs enough to pull my F-250 out when i get stuck?

Thanks!

I don't know what your budget is, but you can buy a whole bumper/grille guard that has a winch mount on it to just make it easy on yourself. Typically to find out what size winch you need, take the GVWR of the truck + 1/4 of the GVRW. Like my F250 has a GVRW of 6800, so with that formula i need a winch that can handle 8500 lbs. So I would imagine that 9500 is plenty for your truck.

Yea I was debating on whether that was a what I wanted to do, lol. I'm kinda' just saving up now and was looking at my different options and was curious about the mount and guard. Thanks for the tip on weight I was hoping 9500 would be enough. Much more and they get spendy haha. Any Info on Badlands as a winch brand? I would like warn but they are a little high in price.

Thanks!

I actually don't know anyone that uses Badlands, but I have heard of them, so I guess that's a start. Everyone that I know with a winch either has a Warn or Mile Marker. I'm not real fond of Mile Marker though. My brother has an 87 ranger that went through 2 sets of Mile Marker lock outs in 2 years. The actual lock out part that turns would get sheered right off while in 4 wheel drive. Never seen it happen before, and the Warn ones on it now are about 2 times the weight and aren't plastic.

Well I was debating between a badlands, or scraping up the extra money and buying a warn. The real reason I thought of badlands was because I have a $100 coupon for a 9500lb winch haha. I dont know anyone with a winch period so I have no clue as to what is good and what is bad.

Thanks for the help!

I know probably a half dozen guys with winches. 4 of them have Warn. The other 2 have Mile Marker. Maybe see what kind of warranty Badlands offers. If they have a warranty that covers the motor in it burning out or locking up for several years, then I would get it to try it.
No problem buddy.

Off-Road Magazine did an article on the 12,000 lb version a couple months ago. They seemed to like it for an economy winch.
