What ever happend with that guy that lost the quarter on his 50 cent mod? Did he ever find it?
I had that happen but I prolly didnt have mine in right. I was lucky enough that I didn't go anywhere I just started it and it was still misfiring so I shut it down to check and that is when I found the quarter sitting on the head between the two center valve springs. That was enough for me to say the hell with it and just ordered replacement harnesses.
Well I went OEM, got them both installed in pretty good time... The bad news is it still WON'T run at all! Really bummed now because I am afraid I can't pull the correct codes I will have to tow it somewhere. Strange thing, while trying to start it under the hood I got a really strange smell almost like a strange fuel kinda smell, it lasted for a few minutes and went away. Any suggestions on what it could be next?

I didn't know we were diagnosing a no start issue. I thought we were just having a discussion on different shim options for the UVCH. I'd suggest you start a new thread to deal with your problems, that includes all the symptoms and what you're trying to fix. Add a link to this thread to your new one so you get more exposure. Many folks will skip over this thread now since you're asking a question in the thread title that doesn't really ask for the help you need.
i went with the 50 cent mod on my E99...truck had @350k on it when i sold it and never had to go back in again...really never even gave it another thought...from what i read and heard from techs, the clips COULD work themselves back out, and the techs at the stealership seemed pretty intrigued when i mentioned the quarters...not sure if thats part of the "Wyotech" curriculum...lol
