50 Cent mod or Ford Clips??
Well fellas, my UVCHs let me down yet again... and again while towing my camper. The first time it happened my thinking was, well it took 100k miles to come apart I should be good for another but I was wrong!
My question / concern is this about the 50 cent mod, I am afraid to put a foreign metal object inside my valve cover. Am I being too paranoid? Or is it worth it to go to Ford and get the clips?
As always thanks in advance for any and all input!

Sorry about the bad info on the clips I thought you had to use 2 of those clips per side. I used the quarters so............

I used the clips because I did not like the idea of addng quarters under the valve cover. I did mine a f ew months ago...But funny thing just yesterday were were driving down the freeway and it happend...Truck started running badly on one side... Pulled over tuned it off and turned it back on and was fine the rest of the way home. If it does it again I may have go in there again..
What ever happend with that guy that lost the quarter on his 50 cent mod? Did he ever find it?

The updated harness is probably the best solution since it has some additional tabs molded under the clip that keep it from coming loose. Riffraff has them for a reasonable price.
If you are keeping your original parts, the shaved quarter method is very effective. There is no way for the quarter to come loose unless something breaks. If that happens, then you are looking at a new harness anyway (see above).
I have had failures even with the Ford clips. Those things are pretty hard to use and can be installed incorrectly. Generally speaking...if there is a way to mess it up, then I'll find that way. After multiple P1316 adventures, I tossed those little things and broke out with the $0.50 and haven't had any issues since.

Is a quarter small enough to make it down the oil passageway?
I am not worried about the quarter coming out.. The Clip would have to brake and the plug would have to come completely off, and then, the quarter slides out.. By then you would be running on 4 cylinders anyways.. I don't remember if the quarter will fit down the holes..
