50 Cent Mod Failed

I am adding this to the forum to let everyone know the 50Cent mod is not 100% full proof.

After replacing my injector sleeves last year, I applied the 50 Cent mod to both UVCH's. This week the truck died. after much work under the hood with an Ohm Meter and help from other forum members, determined it was the drivers side UVCH that was faulty. Upon removal of the valve cover, I discovered thet the harness had come loose and the quarter was gone. I looked where I could last night with flashlight, but no luck. Any ideas of where the quarter could be? Do I need to pull the head?

I'm subscribing to this because I don't see how the quarter can come out, unless the whole connection broke off somehow.

i would eliminate the idea of pulling the head fast...there is no way something 1" wide got into your motor from up there...unless you had an injector completely out with the cup out too. i would look good under the valve cover. chances are if it went anywhere its in there now covered oil hiding.

.....how small did you make your quarter?

Did you do the 50 cent mod in your dreams? I don't see how it could come out as well unless the clip is broken or you used a canadian quarter or something.

Subscribing... as hard as it was for me to get the quarter to slide in, I can't imagine it coming loose. Keep us posted! I wouldn't be too worried about the quarter. If it's not in the lower edge of the head under the oil, then it's probably down where the lifters are. If I'm right, there are little plates/holders down in there that it would be sitting on so it's probably not sitting on anything that's getting hurt. Hmmm... quarters can't be picked up with a magnet, can they?

I am puzzled as well. I am going to search around some more today. I am sure going to try the magnet thing.

When I had my injector orings replaced the mech used zip ties to secure the wiring harness instead of quarters. He heard of the 50cent mod but chose not to use metal by the wiring. Not trying to start a pi$$ing contest, just sayin.

Here is a photo of how the quarter gets installed. Once the valve cover is laid in place it seems impossible for the quarter to come out unless the wiring harness clips were broken.

Mine was zip tied also. I thought it was a better idea up to the point it came loose. I don't think most zip ties hold up well in the UVC environment.

If your 100% positive you installed the quarter, you need to find it. look In the day light and you need to look REAL good everywhere on the head. My fear would be.. It's jammed between one of the valve springs . I hope not..

Can you take a pick of your connector? Just a some what disconnected connector, i would doubt that it would still dislodge the quarter. Curious I am. There has to be more to it.
