Hey guys, I'm not very familiar with this section but I'm trying to help a friend out. I have an 02 350 with a 7.3 in it and am very very familiar with it, but as far as the 6.0 goes, I haven't got a very good idea of its probles and how to fix them. Based upon his description today he's told me that it doesn't have nearly the power it used to, doesn't spool up very well, you have to use tow/haul mode to get it to get any real rpms and has a bit of a miss to it. It used to be a real powerhouse and is his money maker so if he doesn't get it fixed he'll have to sell it. He said its throwing the check engine light and like I told him, it'd really help to have those codes. I have a snap on solus scanner that works with my 7.3, would it pick up on 6.0 codes as well? Thank you guys for your help and your time.
Thank you for the quick response, its a totally stock truck besides a 4 inch exhaust, its a 2005 and has run great every since he bought it. This is the first issue he's had with it. I'll try and get the codes shortly.
Pulling the EGR valve would be a cheap and easy thing to look at as well. They can get pretty carboned up! It is usaually a good idea to change the o-rings on it - Ford sells the o-ring kit fairly cheap.
I believe its all the time. I apologise for the lack of exact information, I saw him in the store and we're having a quick talk about our trucks and he briefly told me about it. i'd just like to help him if I'm able and would do him a favor. If the 6.0's are comparable to the 7.3 as far as being able to work on then it shouldn't be too dificult.
I would be thinking that its either an injector or multiple injectors. My buddy had this issue. Lack of power, and always had to drive around with his 6.0L in tow mode. He finally took it in and they had to replace two injectors. Problem fixed. But i would do all the easy checkpoints first before looking into injectors. They are pricey.

Mileage? Usage of the truck? Oil change intervals?
