Do you need the whole rear end housing? or just one of the axles?

Where are you located? Yours broke or bent? Axle studs screwed up? Is it fixable?

My feeble memory thinks both are the same length on our trucks. Got a few pair, need to check.

I am in Dallas, TX. The guy that I bought it from some how wore a grove in the axle where the seal fits on it. He had operated a used tire shop and used it to haul loads of used tires...talk about abuse

I believe Yukon gear makes repops for something like $100 each. Don't forget new seals when you put it in.

Be sure you get the right spline count.

1968/72 F100: There were TWO different 9" rear axles used in these trucks.

One has a 9" ring gear, 28 spline axle shafts, 3,300 lb. rear axle capacity.

The other has a 9 3/8" ring gear, 31 spline axle shafts, 3.600 lb. rear axle capacity.

Only 5 parts used with the 9" are the same as a 9 3/8" / Housing gasket, pinion seal, one pinion bearing and race, pilot bearing retainer. EVERYTHING else is different!

The AXLE code stamped on the Warranty Plate will decode to which axle is present, as will the rear axle ID tag.

The rear axle ID tag is located under one of the bolts that retains the carrier to the housing, originally at 5 o'clock.

But today, many of these tags are missing.

C8TZ-4234-A .. 28 spline Axle Shaft / Use w/9" ring gear / Right/Left is the same / 1968/72 F100 / Obsolete

C8TZ-4234-B .. 31 spline Axle Shaft / Use w/9 3/8" ring gear / Right/Left is the same / 1968/72 F100 / Obsolete
