Well the last 2 days when Ive took the kids to school I noticed a small puff of bluish light smoke at startup for about 3-5 seconds then it goes away. The truck is running fine as far as I can tell and fuel pressure's right there around 65 during driving and no loss of power. Ive had injector (oring) issues before which caused a hydrolock situation and I have about a 200 mile trip tomorrow and am getting paranoid. Is this something I should just disregard or do I need to start looking for something to happen. I just havent noticed it smoking before except for when I had the oring issue which was last summer. My wife has been driving the truck for the past week so Ive only been in it during the school run in the mornings but she hasnt acted like anything is out of the ordinary. Guess Im looking for reassurance since Ill be doing some lengthy driving with the wife and kids tommorrow. Thanks for the input guys.
Might check the truck for codes. Blue in color smoke almost sounds like oil burning off that's seeped in to the engine. But I've also heard of a FICM mentioned in past threads when blue smoke was reported. Do you have any trouble starting it in the mornings?
Hard to say but blue smoke is oil. Are the CAC boots oily? Maybe CCV issue or turbo seal just starting to go. Might be time to pull the exhaust pipe from the turbo and check for signs of oil there. I wouldn't sweat a few hundred miles if it's only a puff on start up, but I would definitely want to check into further first chance I got.
She starts up fine. Let me mention that the smoke is the same color it was as when I had injector oring issues. Now I am a tad colorblind so thats what color it looks like to me. FICM readings are good, fuel pressure good, no codes at all. Thanks.
When I had oring issues it was on the passenger side bank, never have done anything on the drivers side injectors. Now as far as if the previous owners have I dont know but it didnt show up on the oasis report. Somebody had done something on the passenger side as there was no brass washer on the #3 injector. Was going to video the smoke but when we went to get the kids out of school at early release it didnt do it.
