blowing blue smoke

Last week started 05 without any mods pure stock. Wasn't pulgged in temp around 35. Started up blew blue smoke about 3-5 mins. then cleared up, no smoke rest of the day. I was due for oil change always ran 15w40 rotella all the time. I ordered a bottle of hot shot secrets & bought the T6 5w40. Well for christmas i got a scangauge ll & a fumoto valve. Monday changed oil added HHS & fumoto valve . Hooked up SC ll. Ran truck down the road about 5 miles all of a sudden at a traffic light truck was dumping blue smoke like crazy. Then truck sounded like it was running smoother & smoke stopped. So i ran it about 30 miles down highway ran fine with no smoke. Tonight i started truck up not plugged in temps 30 started smoother but blew a cloud of blue smoke about 3-5 mins. after that smoke settled down but continues to smoke alittle bit constenly. Any ideas please.

could be a turbo seal going out

pull the down pipe and check for an oil swirl inside that end of down pipe

Pull and clean the EGR valve also. Smoke color is sometimes hard to envision over the internet.

Next time you start your truck when it's cold and it starts smoking at idle, check the smoke odor for a sweet smell (coolant) or diesel fuel smell (injector) or oil smell (turbo seal)

Mine starts rough after a cold night and blows blue smoke for a few seconds and then quits. Due for an oil change now and will change to rotella t to see if that's going to help.

It just smells like exhaust. No sweet, diesel or oil smell . Smells just like my JD tractor and smokes like my outdoor wooburner lol. I talked with Lubrication Speciaties today. He said it is normal to smoke blue like that for the first 300-500 miles then should clear up . It's just doing it's job right now. It should clear up after that. Problem is I only put about 5000 miles a year on the truck. I'll have to go on a road trip I guess. I'll keep everyone posted, Thanks for all the helpful replies. I still would like to know how to post pics. Thanks again.
