"Rolling coal" thoughts

My wife and I were taking a walk last night when some mouth breathing under-endowed moron in an SD with no muffler and clearly f-ed up tune decides to roll coal.

In town.

Right in front of an outdoor cafe.

Results:
0 people impressed
20+ ruined dinners
LOTS of people seriously pissed off. Guess how many now support more aggressive smog check laws for diesels? And aftermarket exhaust laws?

Nice move, AH.

True, but lawmakers try.
Stupid acts by a few result in stupid laws for all.
I've been ragging on the HD crowd to knock off the noise for years. Deaf ears. Now ANY modification to motorcycle exhaust is technically illegal. Can't even replace a worn out muffler with an equally quiet (but much less expensive) aftermarket muffler. MUST be OE from the manufacturer. Thanks, guys.

I dont understand it, there reason for it...

I used to have a 93 F150, and it had bad rings and every take it it would puff out a HUGE cloud of blue smoke, it was actually extremely embarrassing, but the truck was not worth the $$$ needed to fix it, and I could not afford a new truck at the time.. Oddly enough it needed emissions testing done, and it was smoking up the test bay, nothing I could do, I knew it sucked but it needed the test.. Well it passed, no one knows how it did, but it passed haha!!

I bought the truck for $2000, invested $1500 into maintenance and repairs only for the rings to die.. Sold it to a scrap yard for $500, I seen it out in the for sale lot for $5000, they really fixed it up nice..

Thats too bad you got a moron. My truck rolls coal but only when I floor it all the way which in turn spins the tires from a stop. Not sure why I would want to burn off 400 dollars in a tire or do that in town anyway just to make someone mad.

As for the comment about removing exhaust, if Ford would not have rushed the emissions in 2008 and dropped a diesel to 10 mpg from 18 to 20 then more people wouldnt do it. Sounds like Ford finally has gotten it right on the 2011 model year though so you and your fellow smog hating Californians have their wish as well as the diesel guys finally have a truck from Ford that doesn't break the bank.

Chevy had it right when they put the allison transmission in it just took Ford 7 extra years to catch up. No need to tune or drop the exhaust anymore.
