if i took the muffler off of my truck would it still pass smog?

Yes but it might fail for noise.

Maybe, but you'll get 15 noise ordinance tickets on the way to the smog test facility!

Alot of smog places do a visual inspection for exhaust and you might fail if you have NO muffler.
No muffler sounds rice-y anyway. Go get a flowmaster 40. Or a muffler your local shop recommends.
