I spent many, many hours and miles aboard that fleet.
Do you also remember PSA's L-1011s? At least they actually existed!

The People Scattered Allover Tri-Stars? Yup... I remember those. I also remember the nickname "Hughes Airworst" - as featured in the movie "The Gauntlet". I was in the Chicago area when that DC10 lost an engine and flew upside-down into the ground. Aren't I the cheery one?
Airwest was bought out by Republic Airlines, then Northest Orient bought them out, then they changed their name to Northwest Airlines. I was on a business trip (Detroit, I think) no more than about 4 years ago, flying in one of the original Airwest DC9s. I swear that thing was flapping it's wings while I watched the fuselage flex in and out. One cool thing, I completely forgot the DC9 didn't need a push-off - they can thrust backwards on their own.

I suspect anything with TRs COULD do a powerback, but the 9's didn't have the fear of blowing up FOD to get sucked in the front end. Same would be true of the B727s, but I don't recall ever hearing of one doing so.
I was aboard a G-II that backed up on its own, but only for a very short distance. We were in tight on a ramp and it was going to take a half hour to get a tug over. Speys made a heckuva' racket getting it to move!
Sometimes the old timers start talking about things over your head, and you just keep on reading or listening, hoping to catch something interesting and useful one day!
It sounds like a guy I worked with he asked if I had a 7.3, I said yep. He said good engine, I said yeah. He asked what kinda power I was making, I said around 300 at the wheels, he said huh my 6L is making 500HP and has 500,000miles on it and he has no complaints..... I was in my truck and he was at my window talking to me. I asked what kind of head studs he put in it, he said no head studs......
I put the truck in gear and drove away with him standing there looking dumb founded
Now THAT is funny stuff right there! Can I rep you for that?
When I was 25 yrs old I knew everything !! When I turned 35 I was still pretty sharp and thought I was smart. Well now that I am over 50 yrs old I am not too bright and I am wrong more times than I am right. There is just so much knowledge out there to soak in that it is overwhelming.
I am like a 1oz shot glass. And the brotherhood is trying to pour a 12oz beer into my shot glass. But I am learning one shot glass at a time thanks to the "brotherhood" Thanks guys!!
In life my goal is to gain knowledge and I find that there is something to be learned everyday as long as you are "Open Minded" I even try to learn from the dumb ones. That's right....... I try not to do stupid things but it still happens.
I didn't know S*^t about my 7.3 until i found this site and i still don't know much. All's i know you guys have cost me $$ and helped make my truck better.. Oh and faster.. I don't want to be the fastest, just fast to the finish line.. Now that's brotherly love.. Oh and BTW Im 48... LOL
That's true... man, I've seen 50 year olds leading on like they're 90 and then there's my 70 year old grand parents who are going down kicking and screaming. I'm gonna try like heck to go down screaming.
Pop, I love the video... that's the way to do it and I hope I can be that way!
